ABOUT US: Structure
Day to day operations of the Center are under the guidance of
a Director and Executive committee, who report to the Health
Sciences Board of Deans for academic and programmatic issues
and to the Executive Director of the Health Sciences Center
for adminstrative matters. This level of reporting is cited
in the Academic Health Centers publication Catalysts in Interdisciplinary
Education: Innovation by Academic Health Centers as crucial
for sustaining the new generation of interdisciplinary effort.
The executive committee is comprised of faculty from each unit.
The current executive committee is comprised of the following:
Pamela Mitchell (Nursing), Chair
Nanci Murphy, Co-chair
Thomas Morton (Dentistry)
Thomas Norris (School of Medicine)
Sherrilynne Fuller (Health Sciences Libraries/Information School)
Anne Marie Kimball (Public Health)
Gunnar Almgren (Social Work)
We anticipate rotating the directorship among the participating schools after the initial startup. An advisory committee is comprised of representatives from each participating school and one or two external advisors from the few established academic health center offices for
interdisciplinary education.
The current advisory committee consists of:
Nancy F. Woods (Chair-Dean, Nursing)
Sidney Nelson (Dean-School of Pharmacy)
Harry Bruce (Dean, Information School)
Edwina Uehara (Dean, Social Work)
Susan Marshall (Associate Dean, Medicine)
Mark Oberle (Associate Dean, Public Health & Community Medicine)

Dentistry)

H. John Gilbert (Principal, College of Health Disciplines, University
of British Columbia)
